Looking for boarding catteries near Eastbourne, East Sussex?

Look no further - Inglenook Cattery is here!

Inglenook Cattery News - Watch this Space!

We try to answer all of your questions when you phone or call in person, many of these are the same and we thought we may be able to answer these in advance!!

Why do catteries charge per day, not per night as hotels do?

We charge per day because unlike hotels, most of our costs are accrued during the day time, the first day we have to sterilise all the surfaces of the pen, even though we may have it already clean, supply new bedding, add food, sterilise any toys we provide and to cover admin costs. On the day you collect your cat, the bedding has to be washed, sterilised and dried, uneaten food has to be disposed of and the pen completely stripped out cleaned, and sterilised, and the litter disposed of and the tray sterilised. Also, your cat has the pen for the whole day, if you book in at 9am, or if you book out at 5pm, we cannot fill the pen for the remaining time.

Do you use bleach to clean my cats toys/bed/food dishes etc?

A resounding NO!!! Bleach is very corrosive, has a very strong smell which cats hate, can cause serious burns if it comes in contact with either cats or our staff! Also in the concentrations recommended by the FAB, we are not sure if soaking beds, trays, toys etc gives the required level of cleanliness. We use a product designed specifically for catteries and kennels, this guarantees complete destruction of all viruses, including feline herpes and FIV, kills all known bacteria, spores and micro organisms. This product is cat friendly, has a pleasant smell and, most importantly, is very kind to us and the environment!!

Do you spend any time with our cats?

YES! If your cat is friendly and likes attention, we play, cuddle, stroke and generally love them to bits, we have our own cats and we love them all!! My cat(s) only eat a little/a lot/expensive and rare food/nothing/everything, can you cope with him/her?

Yes, we have a lot of experience feeding cats, most of your beloved pets who hold you to ransom at home by walking past their bowls with their noses and tails in the air, with that air of indifference only cats can have, will eat voraciously here, probably they feel that as there are other cats, they must eat or their dinner will be eaten by some one else!! We do have most foods in stock, plus some tempting morsels if a guest is very particular, but to this day haven’t had one that wouldn’t be tempted by something!

Do you let our cat(s) out to play?

A resounding no to this one!! We spend time with your pets in their pen, but we don’t allow them out to play, as communal play areas are known to be rife with infection from all the ‘users’ and have, in the past where catteries had such areas, be known to cause transmission of disease. Also there is a question of security, we would not like to have to tell you that your beloved Tiddles has gone walkabout!!
